Works based on the word Echo, either the literal word forms, or the idea.
Many paintings incorporated gloss and matt areas that shifted in reflectivity depending on the viewer’s position. Some included a ‘scintillating grid’ effect that produces after image dots in the eye. The prints were face mounted to perspex and produced strong reflections.
An Echo may be a thing representing other things, a repetition of the same thing, a secondary effect that seems to have a life of its own, or simply the sound of floating words reverberating in air. For the artist, the word evokes a broad range of poetic speculations about contemporary conditions.
